Top 3 Largest Trucks in the World

1. Transformer ETF MT-240 (760 t)

Top 3 Largest Trucks in the World

In the first place is the record holder of the production of the Slovenian company ETF Mining Equipment – the largest mining dump truck ETF MT-240 for today, which is many times superior in terms of carrying capacity of all its predecessors.

This is a truck, a striking feature of which, in addition to record load capacity, is a modular design that allows you to install additional motor wheels, batteries, etc. using a conventional forklift.

The cab of the car can be unfastened, and then it turns into a trailer for the unimaginable size of the road train.
The total number of axles of this truck is from 2 to 8. In different modifications, its carrying capacity varies from 180 to 760 tons, and the maximum length reaches 29 m.

ETF MT-240 not only looks like a robot from the famous fantastic saga about the confrontation between “Autobots” and “Decepticons”, but is actually a transformer. Another interesting comparison that this miracle of technology received in the specialized media is “a huge Lego construction set”. Of course, associations with a huge all-terrain vehicle for studying the most impassable planets or a spaceship will also be fair.

All wheels of this dump truck are driven, they are connected to the steering. The turning radius of the biaxial section is 20.7 m, and the eight-axle section is 40.9 m, which allows the machine to make a 360-degree turn.

2. Ship on wheels – BelAZ-75710 (450 t)

“Silver” is received by the Belarusian BelAZ-75710 weighing 350 tons and carrying a capacity of 450 tons. Its dimensions are 20.6 × (length) × 9.75 m (width) × 8.26 m (height).

He, like his “ancestor” Liebherr T282B, managed to be on the first line of the rating of the largest trucks in the world, but now he lost to a competitor from Slovenia, which we will discuss below.

In the meantime, let’s return to the brainchild of the Belarusian Automobile Plant. The two-axle, all-wheel-drive BelAZ-75710 became famous all over the world and was entered in the Guinness Book of Records when it carried 503.5 tons of cargo across the test range and thereby exceeded the permissible load by more than 50 tons.

The BBC Future journalist eloquently describes the truck:

The torque for this model is 18.626 Nm. BelAZ-75710 consumes about 1300 liters of fuel per 100 km.

The phenomenal load capacity is provided by a number of extraordinary solutions: 4 wheelsets with tubeless pneumatic tires, designed for a significant excess of loading, and two 16-cylinder diesel engines that start a generator, from which 4 electric motors are powered.

Externally, the BelAZ-75710 cabin resembles the ship’s captain’s cabin.

3. Ancestors of giants – Liebherr T282B, Caterpillar 797F (363 t)

The third position is shared by the “German” Liebherr T282B (2004 onwards) and the “American” Caterpillar 797F (2008 onwards) – both with a carrying capacity of 363 tons.

Liebherr T282B is the former holder of the title of the largest truck in the world, entered in the Guinness Book of Records with an unladen weight of 252 t and dimensions: 15.3 m (length) x 7.84 m (width) x 7.84 m (height ).

This 4-wheel dump truck, equipped with electric transmission, develops up to 64 km / h, consuming an average of 174 liters of fuel per hour, with a fuel tank volume of 4,730 liters.

Different versions of the T282B have engine power ranging from 3500 to 3650 hp. – the most powerful 20-cylinder engine with a total volume of 90 liters. and weighing 10.5 tons.

The loaded Caterpillar 797F, part of the 3rd generation of the 797 CAT mining truck series, weighs up to 624 tonnes. Vehicle dimensions: 15.09 x 9.53 x 6.53 meters. The maximum speed is about 68 km / h.

The CAT C175-20 ACERT power plant, driving the dump truck, has 20 cylinders of an engine with a volume of 5.3 liters. Engine output – 3,844.95 HP Fuel consumption per 100 km – more than 780 liters. The volume of the tank is designed for 6 814 liters.
