Magico M9 is a large four-way acoustic system, in which, according to the assurances of the developers, they applied all their knowledge and skills. Massive floor standing, whose shape is clearly inspired by parabolas, comes with an external active crossover.

The inner and outer layers of the body are made of carbon fiber, with a honeycomb aluminum core in between. The company sought to control the vibrations of the hull without storing energy in it. Magico’s proprietary tension strut system, aircraft-grade aluminum front panel, and aerospace-grade damping are still there.

The shape of the case was chosen to get rid of resonances, and the shape of the front panel was thought out taking into account the reduction of diffraction effects: the developers wanted nothing to prevent the sound waves from the speakers from propagating. The description says that, despite the solid dimensions (203x102x51 cm and 454 kg), the M9 “completely dissolves in terms of sound.”

The same honeycomb aluminum is used in the cones of the eighth generation Nano-Tec midrange/woofers, only it is covered with a layer of graphene. According to the company, due to this, the acoustics are able not to restrain power, but at the same time playback the most delicate nuances of melodies with maximum transparency and microdynamics.

The speaker baskets are titanium, and the coils come in three sizes: 3, 4, and 5 inches. They are, respectively, in the 6-inch midrange, 11-inch mid-bass speakers, and 15-inch woofers.

The M9 uses a 28mm beryllium-diamond dome tweeter for high frequencies: diamond is deposited on the beryllium dome using a chemical vapor deposition process. As a result, the speaker turned out to be light, but tough. Acoustics plays from 18 Hz to 50 kHz and requires two stereo amplifiers or four mono amplifiers.

The external crossover features fully balanced discrete circuitry from input to output, features high-precision attenuators that allow volume control in 0.5dB increments for each input, and is claimed to be free of distortion.

The tweeter, mid-range, and mid-bass speakers are controlled by a three-way passive crossover, but at a cutoff frequency of 120 Hz, active filtering is used between the mid-bass speaker and the woofer. The power supply for the crossover is external, in a separate case.

The start of sales of Magico M9 is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020. In the USA, acoustics will cost 950,000 US dollars at the exchange rate at the time of release. Today price of M9 ACOUSTICS is $750,000.
