Lamborghini Aventador S
It no longer makes sense for car spies to hunt for prototypes of the updated Aventador : the car is officially presented. By tradition, the modernized version has acquired an additional letter in the name: meet the Lamborghini Aventador S coupe!
Improvements to the “eski” were expected and have already been run in by the company on a collectible sports car Lamborghini Centenario . But if that model is released in a limited edition of forty copies, then the Aventador S will be the first production Lambo with a fully controlled chassis. This function is included in the so-called concept of total control – a system of measures to improve the stability of the machine in corners and on a straight line.
A new front splitter increases downforce on the nose of the Aventador S by 130%, while a huge diffuser and a three-position active wing keep the rear down by up to one and a half times more effective. It is worth adding here the upgraded pushrod type suspension with magnetorheological fluid. By the way, a fully controlled chassis required the use of new springs in the rear suspension, a different geometry and kinematics – for example, reducing the castor under load.
At the same time, thanks to the refinement of the power supply and gas distribution systems, as well as the transfer of the cutoff from 8350 to 8500 rpm, the power of the naturally aspirated V12 6.5 engine increased from 700 to 740 hp. Although the flagship version of the Aventador 750-4 SV (750 hp) and even more so the Centenario (770 hp) remained unsurpassed. And the maximum torque is still 690 Nm. The dry weight (1575 kg) has not changed either. Interestingly, thanks to the developed body kit, the dynamics even slightly worsened: acceleration to “hundreds” takes 2.9 against the previous 2.8 s. The maximum speed, as before, is electronically limited to 350 km/h.
But to the previous three chassis settings (Strada, Sport and Corsa), the Ego position has been added, which allows you to configure the settings for a specific driver. By the way, in each of the modes, you can additionally configure a new virtual dashboard. And the multimedia system, as expected, was replenished with the Apple CarPlay service.
Lamborghini Aventador S will be shown to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show. It is possible that by that time the Roadster will also join the coupe. Deliveries of closed machines to customers will begin in April. The price in Europe will be at least 281,555 euros, which is about 5% more expensive than the pre-styling coupe. And in Russia, prices for Aventador S start at 20 million 23 thousand rubles.
