Bowers & Wilkins launches mother-of-pearl Nautilus for 30th anniversary

A seminal piece of Bowers & Wilkins acoustics, the Nautilus reference system celebrates its 30th anniversary. According to the company, the creation of John Bowers, who initiated the project shortly before his death, and project leader Laurence Dickie, is so flawless that no improvements have been needed in its entire 30-year history.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Nautilus, Bowers & Wilkins released this speaker in a unique Abalone Pearl finish. This color, as well as the name of the columns, which partly explains their shape, are related to the inhabitants of the seabed. Anniversary Nautilus came out in a pearl-pearl color of the inner surface of the sea shell.

The company said that Nautilus technology has hardly changed in 30 years. The design of these columns does not allow to apply to them the conveyor principles of mass production. The assembly of each pair of Nautilus, like 30 years ago, is a painstaking manual process, and only the manufacture of one case, without finishing, takes more than a week. According to Bowers & Wilkins, demand for Nautilus acoustics is still high – so much so that in order to become the owner of these acoustics, you have to wait two years.
And this is despite the fact that the price of Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus in a standard design for buyers in the United States is $ 70,000.
