Aespa release ‘My World’ mini-album and show the ‘Spicy’ music video
Aespa presented the EP “My World”. It contains six tracks, including the previously released single “Welcome to My World” and the new single “Spicy” that came out with the release.
In the clip, the Aespa members appear as popular high school girls dancing and relaxing in different locations, including a luxurious mansion and a street. During the day, “Spicy” gained more than 23 million views.
The mini-album “My World” made a lot of noise even before the official release. With pre-orders alone, it had a circulation of 1.8 million copies, the highest in Aespa’s career. Currently, “My World” tops Apple Music in 17 countries and iTunes in 16 countries.
Here is what Gisele, one of the members of Aespa, said in an interview with Uproxx:
“It’s a little different [from our previous work]. At the same time, the roots of Aespa have been preserved in its entire atmosphere. We will show a versatile version of ourselves. Not just to introduce a new song – but to bring out our more sentimental and musical side, and not just our performances.”
“My World” is the third EP in Aespa’s discography, having previously released EPs “Savage” (2021) and “Girls” (2022). Critics love the new release so far. Thus, NME magazine believes that Aespa issued “an application for the status of a large female pop group” – with “large-scale songs and infectious hooks”. Listeners like it too: on AlbumOfTheYear, its average score was 78 out of 100. Commentators described it as “the best EP” and “pleasant surprise”, also pointing out that Aespa has come a long way since “Girls”.
Some of the songs from “My World” has already been heard by fans during Aespa’s Asian tour, dubbed Synk: Hyper Line. It started on February 25 in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. As part of the tour, Aespa also played concerts in several cities in Japan.
Girls, the group’s previous EP, was released ten months ago on July 8, 2022. After that, Aespa released a collaborative Christmas video with Red Velvet – “Beautiful Christmas”. And in March, the group shared the composition “Hold On Tight”, written to the tune of “Peddlers” and included in the soundtrack to the film “Tetris”.
